Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Swaastik Yog School in Dharamkot?
Our Dharamkot campus is in the village of Dharamkot, Himachal Pradesh (176219), set in the Dhauladhar range above McLeodganj and Dharamshala. It is our second location alongside our year-round flagship school in Rishikesh, and runs the same Yoga Alliance certified curriculum in a quieter Himalayan forest setting.
What yoga courses and retreats are available in Dharamkot?
Dharamkot offers the same programs as Rishikesh: 100, 200, 300 and 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training, Aerial Yoga and Sound Healing courses, plus shorter 3, 5 and 7-day yoga retreats. All teacher trainings are Yoga Alliance registered, so the certification is internationally recognised in 70+ countries.
When is the best time of year for yoga in Dharamkot?
The Dharamkot season runs roughly April to November. Spring (April-June) brings warm days and clear mountain views; the monsoon (July-August) is lush and green but wetter; and the post-monsoon window (September-November) offers crisp, clear weather that many students consider ideal. Winters are cold and most programs move to our Rishikesh campus.
How do I get from Rishikesh to Dharamkot?
Dharamkot is about 500 km from Rishikesh. Most students take an overnight bus or private car (around 12-13 hours) toward Dharamshala/McLeodganj, then a short taxi up to Dharamkot. The nearest airport is Gaggal (Kangra/Dharamshala Airport, DHM), roughly 20 km away; Pathankot is the nearest major railway station.
Is the yoga teacher training in Dharamkot Yoga Alliance certified?
Yes. Swaastik Yog School is a Yoga Alliance Registered School (RYS 200, 300 and 500), and the Dharamkot programs follow the same registered curriculum and are taught by the same senior teachers as Rishikesh. Graduates can register with Yoga Alliance as RYT-200, RYT-300 or RYT-500.
How is Dharamkot different from Rishikesh for yoga training?
Rishikesh is the bustling world capital of yoga on the banks of the Ganges, with the deepest concentration of lineage teachers and traditional culture. Dharamkot is quieter and higher, a forested mountain village near McLeodganj with Tibetan Buddhist influence — it suits students who want the same certified training in a calmer, cooler, more secluded setting.
